3 Candle lighting ceremony 8 Months, 3 Weeks ago

My son would like to do only 3 candles. One for those who
unfortunately are unable to be with us (grandparents who have
passed on), one for family and friends celebrated with us, and a
third. It is the third that we are struggling with. We are thinking
the future or some sort of hope for health, happiness or something
meaningful and not just a typical hallmark card. Any suggestions
would be helpful. Thank you.

What about a "Tzedakah" Candle? Tzedakah is a Hebrew word commonly translated as charity (though it is based on a root meaning justice). You can make a donation to an Jewish or Israeli charity organization, and dedicate the candle to the organization. The mitzah boy can elaborate a little about the organization and its work before lighting the candle. Sound good?

Well, when I was 13, for my bar mitzvah I received my first typewriter. And that was special. (R. L. Stine)

What about a candle honoring a tree platned by the Bar Mitzvah boy in Israel? Check TreeGivers.com.

Here's a suggestion: light the third candle to honor Gilad Shalit, a 19 years old Israeli soldier held hostage by Hamas since he was captured on 25 June 2006. Free Gilad Shalit!
