Bar / Bat Mitzvah Planning with Doctor Simcha

Hi all!

We’re looking for a good party theme idea for my daugther’s Bat-Mitzvah. Can you share?

My daughter says that she wants a ”fun” theme, but we still haven’t found something that we really like. She considered ”shopping” as a theme, but feels that it is not different enough and that it was used by many people.

We of course would like also the different elements of the party (like centerpieces, favors, invitations, etc) to try and match the theme. Ideas and suggestions are most welcome!

Could you help us with ideas for a ”fun” Bat-Mitzvah party theme?

What about a ”beach” or ”summertime” party theme?

You can use give away sun glasses and beach balls as favors. Assign each table a famous beach name (Palm Beach, Fernando de Noronha [Brazil], Anguilla [Caribbean], etc. For the photo montage and dancing play a lot of beach boys

The beach theme idea is great, especially when summer is around the corner!

What about color combinations for the beach party? Choose beach related color combinations. I prefer two color combinations. Ivory and light blue are cool. For a three color combination think about white, light Blue and dark blue.

Hi Lina,
I don’t know your daughter’s name. My daughter’s name is Elyssa (with an E); her BM is May 3, 2008 (2 months from tomorrow!!). Anyway, her theme is the E! entertainment logo and the name of the party is ”It’s All About E!” There will be E’s all over the room, and we are having a red carpet, with friends acting like Melissa and Joan Rivers. The centerpieces are magazine covers with Elyssa’s picture on them and quotes about her.

Another interesting idea I heard about recently was similar to shopping, but it was called ”In Her Shoes.” Everything related to shoes, the centerpieces, the place cards, the giveaways, etc. Good luck planning!!!

I was going to suggest that you do a hat theme and have pictures of the bat mitzvah girl in different hats all over. The centerpieces could be hats on a hat rack and you could have a cowboy hat,a top hat, a policeman hat etc. But after reading these posts I have to tell you that I just LOVE the E! idea. That one sounds like a lot of fun and I think it works with any letter. Best of luck!

Marci, your ”E!” theme is fabulous. Red carpet, that will surely be fun! You must be excited for the upcoming event. Only 2 months, Mazel Tov and good luck!

My daughter’s name is Brenda, so we’ll have to think about something with ”B”. The ”beach” party theme could fit well then, isn’t it so? We’ll have to think about it, Brenda seems to like the idea. So we may actually be combining the two ideas posted on the forum here, how good! Another possibility is ”baseball”, that she loves (yes!).
