Double Bat Mitzvah Party 4 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Hi
I was wondering if anyone has any ideas for how to throw a double bat mitzvah party. Two girls want to share the same party as they have the same friends - the two families are also very close and share many of the same friends.

The question is how to structure the party..when to have the two candlelighting ceremonies (so as not overwhelm the guests), what to say on the invitations, when to show the montages'...etc.

Any ideas are appreciated...

Thanks.

Sounds like twice as fun and probably half as stressful!

Do the girls study for the synagogue ceremony together? I think that it can be a good idea. It'll probably bring them closer together. They will help each other learn and motivate one another. The kids also may be relieved that they wouldn't have to do it alone at the synagogue, right?

It's good that the girls and families are close. How nice to have everyone together at the joint party.

I think that it is preferable to let each of the two girls to have her own candle lighting ceremony. It is such an important piece of the party, that it is better to let them enjoy a personal memory of it, isn't it so? Anyway, it still would be nice to find a way to somehow share the ceremony in a way. What about lighting the candles alternately, ne candle this girl and the same candle the other girl, one candle after the other. Can be good fun!

Will the girls have share also the ceremony at the synagogue?

Pass the Torah book through one family and then through the second family. The first BM girl receiving the book carries it to the table. The second will carry book back to the ark. Sounds good?

Hi and good morning,

I think it's fabulous to have a double bat mitzvah party - twice the fun would make sure first to have a large room t accommodate all the guests, I would think. It's terrific that the girls share t same friends so when it's candle lighting time, perhaps you could have a stanza for each group of friends, such as camp f riends, neighbor hood friends to recite.

Is there going to be a theme at the party? I would suggest incorporating the theme into the candle lighting ceremony a well.

I would suggest a condensed version of the 2 candle lighting ceremonies so as to not overwhelm or bore the guests. I once did a candle lighting ceremony poem for a set of twins. It turned out creative and entertaining. I would imagine it would be very similar. Best of luck and please let me know if you need anything.
