Israel Theme Bar Mitzvah Party 4 Months ago
Shalom!

My son will have his Bar Mitzvah party on November. He loves Israel and to celebrate Israel's 60th birthday, he chose to his party an "Israel" theme.

We have already thought about some of the details. We will be using blue and white for the decorations and party favors. There will also be lots of Israel flags.

Does anyone here has experience with planning a party with an "Israel" theme, or maybe visited such a simcha? We would love to learn from your experience! How did you do with favors? Centerpieces? What about activities for the kids? And music? How to connect the party to Israel?

Thank you and happy Independence Day!

Hi Mila...

Our Temple had "happy birthday Israel" shirts printed up. It was a clever logo from Chai on Life Designs. Some variation of it might be a good favor for your simcha.

Give each table a name of a different city in Israel - the Jerusalem table, Tel Aviv table, Haifa table, etc. Everyone will be excited to find out which table they got.

Mazal Tov and Happy Yom Ha'Atzmaut!

Well, when I was 13, for my bar mitzvah I received my first typewriter. And that was special. (R. L. Stine)

Hello and welcome to the forum!

What about Israeli flags as centerpieces? Instead of placing an Israeli flag on every table, consider using different kinds of Israel related flags - such as Jerusalem flag, Israeli Air Force flag, etc.

Thanks for the tips.
Israeli T-shirts is a great idea for favors. I am sure that the kids will like them, Thanks gjwinston!
What about food and music? Any tips? What do you think about serving falafel at a Bar Mitzvah?

I love Israeli music very much, both contemporary and traditional. You should be careful with playing too much of it, because sometimes people get bored, as they do not know they songs and can't understand the lyrics. It really depends on who your guests are. If you have lots of Israelis invited, they will surely enjoy the Israeli songs.
For the Hora dancing, I saw a song list on this site, and anyway, any Mitzvah DJ should have the songs.
You are having a Israel themed Mitzvah, so you probably would like to play also some contemporary songs. I love Sarit Hadad. She sings beautifully, and has also good party songs. Dana International has good party songs (check her recent "love boy" and "Indian Movie" Another one I love is "Yachad" of a group called Gaya. You should probably be able to listen to these songs on YouTube.
Bye!
