There are different items that you can put in the gift bag, it is really open to creativity.
I remember at one of the mitzvahs finding in the gift bag tourist information papers! You can go to your tourist information office in town and get all the tourist brochures and information sheets with info about attractions, shopping centers, parks, etc, in the area of the hotel. It makes a very warm and exciting welcome bag!

When will the guests get their gift bags? Upon hotel check in? I prefer them getting the bags upon arrival to their hotel room. It can be placed on the hotel room's desk or on the pillows!

A hotel gift bag should include a program of the simcha's events (ceremony, party), with exact dates and times. It is also important to include map cards with navigational assistance to help ensure your guests arrive safely and on time to the synagogue / party venue.

What about adding snacks with the hotel welcome bags? The guests will probably appreciate it after their long journey! Juice / soft drinks, nuts, chocolate, candies, chewing gum, etc.
