Nature Friendly Mitzvah Party 3 Months ago
My son's Bar Mitzvah will be held this year, on December.
Adam would like to have a nature-friendly Bat Mitzvah Party. He was very much inspired by Al Gore's Live Earth concert. Environment is a matter that is close to our hearts and we feel that it will make a meaningful event.
We already heard about environmentally friendly invitations, and are looking for additional creative ideas. If you have any tips for us, on how to arrange a nature-friendly environmental Mitzvah party, we would love to hear.
Thank you!

A nature friendly Bar Mitzvah theme. What a wonderful idea!
Choice of colors for your party should surely be green! Green invitations, green table covers, etc.

Well, when I was 13, for my bar mitzvah I received my first typewriter. And that was special. (R. L. Stine)

About the candle lighting ceremony - tie it to planting trees in Israel. Plant a tree in Israel for each of the honorees and hand the certificates.

Another idea that I heard of for the candle lighting ceremony (I read about it somewhere on this site) is a "flower planting" ceremony. Put together a silk flower arrangement that each honoree / group of honorees will plant. Then donate the arrangement to a charity organization.

Brainstorm with your son to come up with a perfect eco-friendly slogan. Here is a suggestion:

Minimize your environmental footprint with a green Mitzvah!

Use your slogan on your invitations, decorations and personalized favors.
