HI Lili! Mazel tov on your upcoming Bat Mitzvah.
1. It is not any too early to begin planning. You should absolutely still be able to find a hotel room so don't worry, but definitely start your search now. First you need to set your budget and then you can begin to explore your venue options. As you look around at various rooms remember to keep an open mind. Most rooms will not appeal to you instantly. You will need to use your imagination since they are often designed as generic boxes. Please keep your budget in mind throughout this process. The more design elements needed, the more it will cost. Sometimes a beautiful room or amazing setting or view will cost more for the rental fee but will stand on its own, thereby requiring less money be spent on decor.
2. As you think about your Bat Mitzvah, make sure the theme doesn't detract from the religious significance of the day. Try working your mitzvah project or judaica of some sort into the weekend. A great place to do this is at the kiddush luncheon, if you host one.
As for your celebration theme ideas, both your options are great. You can either go glitzy with your Hollywood theme or put a modern twist on the traditional theme and go more animated and fun. You can see the Hollywood theme look

Another similar option might be a TV Land Awards Party theme. Consider creating a retro, chic, glitzy look. Limit the number of formal sit down tables and instead use couches (many party rental companies now offer sleek couches), x-large bean bag lounge chairs, and cocktail rounds, and absolutely get your hands on as many metal TV trays as possible. Consider lots of different food options spread throughout the room. Epicurious.com has a fun
article about TV dinners menus inspired by our favorite shows. Play with their ideas and add some of your own - obviously substitute mock cocktails for the real thing.

I always love a my favorite things party because it is a great way to showcase all of your interests. Every centerpiece should be different whether it be a grouping of your favorite books, something to do with your favorite sport, music, and of course pictures of your family. There are some
great photo vases which could work perfectly for this purpose. Your food is simple ... only serve your favorites. Ask your DJ to play a trivia game showcasing you and to play name that tune with your favorite songs.
Obviously, I can go on and on. I hope this jump starts your celebration planning. If I can help with specifics, just ask. Best of luck.
