Benchers & Prayer Booklets
Written by Doctor Simcha
  • Birkat Hamazon (Grace After Meals) Benchers
Jewish prayers and blessings are usually followed, to a certain degree, on B- Mitzvahs ceremonies and parties.

  • To allow the simcha guests to follow the blessings, it is customary to provide them with benchers (blessings books), that include Jewish blessings for different holidays and Jewish life cycle occasions.

  • Benchers are a popular way to enhance a Bar/Bat Mitzvah. They create a meaningful souvenir which is strongly connected to the religious source of the ceremony.

  • Several merchants will be ready to personalize the benchers by adding names, dates and logos to the benchers, resulting in unique gift commemorating your simcha guests.

  • Two matters to pay attention to before you order the benchers:

    • Pay attention to the language of the benchers. Benchers are usually available in Hebrew and/or in English translations.

    • The are different versions of blessings for Ashkenazy and Sephardic Jews. Are Ashkenazy and Sephardic? Choose the correct version.

  • Personalized Benchers
Birkat Hamazon (Grace After Meals) benchers are popular at Bar & Bat Mitzvahs. Benchers, anyway, may include other blessings as well (such as Kidush, Shabbat Songs, etc), and the selection of blessings varies from one bencher to another. Make sure that the benchers that you buy include all the blessings relevant to your affair.

  • A Siddur is a the Jewish prayer book, containing (unlike the benchers) a set order of daily books. It is a fancier alternative!

  • A good place to start your shopping is benchers at ZaraMart, which is an Israeli shop with a good selection of benchers, including personalized benchers. Isn't it beautiful to get these meaningful favors to your simcha directly from Israel?
