Music & song lists
Written by Doctor Simcha

  • Put a dance music list in writing. Check if the DJ has all the songs you want.

  • Maybe even more important, if there are songs that you really dislike (who doesn't?), give the DJ a list of songs that you don't want to hear.

  • If you would like to listen to songs and refresh you musical memory, there are online music shops that allow you to preview and buy songs. The two leading services are iTunes Music Store and Napster U.S, and both are highly recomended. They are totally legal and you will not have to worry about your computer getting viruses. You will be able to download there almost any song that you can think of. Let us give you a few details about their deals, so you can choose the one that fits your needs better:

    • iTunes Music Store
      iTunes Music Store
(an Apple company product) - They have an unimagniable collection of music. Listening to song previews is free. To buy any song, you pay 99 cents and it's yours. This so much fun, that it gets addicting! You first have to download iTunes jukebox software. Then you go to the iTunes music store and that is where the fun begins. The Doc feels cool when she says: "iTunes rocks!".

    • Napster U.S - You can listen to every track up to 3 times for free. After the 3rd free play of any single track, you can either purchase the track or become a Napster subscriber. As a subscriber, you can listen to the same song an unlimited amount of times without having to worry about any limits. If you subscribe to Napster To Go, you can transfer that music to any compatible portable device and take your music with you. They offer a 7-day free trial.

  • We prepared bat/bar mitzvah song lists for you to choose from. Don’t forget to choose songs also for the special events of the evening: the grand entrance, candle lighting, special dances and photo montage.

  • The Doc, a well known Grease fan and a dance floor star, made a list of her top 3 dance floor songs:

  • The Doc feels it is better not to be too strict with the DJ on the play-list. His profession is to see the response of the guests, feel which songs make them happier and play more of the same kind. Give him direction with a list of songs and let him do the rest.

  • Special songs requests – are you ready to allow people special request? Usually DJs know how to deal with it. Talk about the issue with your DJ.
