Candle-lighting Songs - Parents
Written by Doctor Simcha

The Bat/Bar Mitzvah candlelighting is not only a celebration of the child's 12/13 birthday. It is also a party for the parents! Traditionally, before the age of BM, all the child's responsibility to follow Jewish law and tradition lies with the parents. After this age, the children bear their own responsibility for Jewish ritual law, tradition and ethics. So, the parents have as well a good reason to celebrate, don't they?

Good choice, Cyrus! The song is listed on the Father & Daughter Dance song list, but it is also a good choice for this candle! The song was added to the list with a credit to you, thanks!

a good song for this.
the song im playing for my parents is

"I Learned From You"
by, Miley Cyrus ft. Billy Ray Cyrus

I didn't wanna listen to what you were sayin'
I thought that I knew all I need to know
I didn't realize that somewhere inside me
I knew you were right but I couldn't say so

I can take care of myself, yeah, you taught me well

I learned from you that I do not crumble
I learned that strength is something you choose
All of the reasons to keep on believing
There's not question, that's a lesson, that I learned from you

What about "Simply the Best"? It has very strong energies!

I call you, when I need you my hearts on fire
You come to me, come to me, wild and wild

You come to me, give me everything I need
Give me a lifetime of promises and a world of dreams
Speak the language of love like you know what it means
And it cant be wrong, take my heart and make it strong, baby

Chorus:
Youre simply the best, better than all the rest, better than anyone, anyone
Ive ever met!
Im stuck on your heart, I hang on every word you say
Tear us apart, baby I would rather be dead

In your heart I see the start of every night and every day
In your eyes, I get lost, I gte washed away
Just as long as Im here in your arms I could be in no better place...

Chorus:
Youre simply the best, better than all the rest, better than anyone, anyone
Ive ever met!
Im stuck on your heart, I hang on every word you say
Tear us apart, baby I would rather be dead

Its the time you leave me I start losing control, youre walking away with my
Heart and my soul, I can feel you even when Im alone, oh baby dont let go!

And your the best, better than all the rest, better than anyone, anyone ive
Ever met!
Im stuck on your heart, I hang on every word you say
Tear us apart, baby I would rather be dead, ooh youre the best!

The McGuire Sisters' "Love and Marriage" is a good choice if both parents are called to the stage together.

Love and marriage, love and marriage
Go together like a horse and carriage
This I tell you brother
You cant have one without the other

Love and marriage, love and marriage
Its an institute you cant disparage
Ask the local gentry
And they will say its elementary

Try, try, try to separate them
Its an illusion
Try, try, try, and you will only come
To this conclusion

Love and marriage, love and marriage
Go together like a horse and carriage
Dad was told by mother
You cant have one without the other
