Hi guys… My niece is invited to her friend’s Bat Mitzvah. And she is asking me for ideas. I have read a lot about gifting and all. But when it comes to giving something, I’m always out of ideas. She wants to give something thoughtful, and not just another thoughtless gift. What do pre-teen girls like in gifts? I don’t know what she would like, and my niece has no idea either. The girl is just twelve so obviously she doesn’t like bags or jewelry. They are just kids and like to play outside. What would be the best gift for a girl who likes to play out with football? She also likes dolls, but I was thinking a doll would be inappropriate because Mitzvah symbolizes the growing of a child into an adult, and a doll might be contradictory (though she loves dolls). What should I suggest? Help :/

Hi,
I can totally understand. Deciding on the right gift is probably one of the most difficult decisions to make. Lol. So anyway, when we were kids, I remember, the most common gifts used to be pen sets. I remember, when it was my brother’s Bar Mitzvah, we ended up with a lot of pen sets. Some people also gave saving bonds. They were all multiple of $18… well those were earlier days. Now people want to be more creative and give something that would help the Mitzvah boy/girl. So anyway, if you are not a religious person, it’s better not to give a religious gift. But you CAN give something related to Jewish culture, because after all, that’s Bat Mitzvah all about. Like, you can give her a biography of a famous Jewish person (someone she admires).
